❌ My nos / what I don't do:
- Readings about other people, because this can often be an easy way of avoiding a hard conversation with whoever the reading is about.
- Yes/No Readings, which block the rich insight that come from the symbolism of a tarot card's suit, number, and imagery. This can also lead to confusion (which cards mean "yes" and which mean "no", and why?)
- Predictive Readings, since our minds like shortcuts and simplicity, so it's too easy to take the info from such a reading at face value and assume it is fixed outcome, when our own actions shape what happens.
✅ My yeses / what I do:
- Readings about yourself, since this aligns with leveraging tarot as a tool for personal and spiritual development
- Posing open-ended questions for a reading, since they allow richer information to come forward
- Referring back to your reading, since the info from it might not resonate with you now, but they can become useful to you at a later time.
Acknowledgement
I acknowledge that the practice of cartomancy (fortune telling by interpreting cards), which has historically included tarot card reading, comes from the Romani people, an ethnic minority of Eastern Europe whose origins are in Northern India.
